If you’re in your mid-twenties than your spring/summer weekend schedule probably looks something like this: bridal shower/ engagement party or wedding/ baby shower /repeat. While I love celebrating loved ones at their showers it can be tricky to dress for. The parties are usually during the day at anywhere from someone’s backyard to a fancy country club. I think to tackle these events it’s great to take the following approach. Invest in one good dress in a nicer material and pair it with lots of less expensive accessories. I love this simple Madewell dress for its flattering silouette and nice fabric. It’s also great though because it’s easy to accessorize with a statement blazer, a fun neon belt, or cute strappy sandals.
Tomorrow I’ll show you a look I wore to my friends shower last weekend. What do you usually wear to your friends bridal/baby showers?
It finally feels like spring in NYC so we celebrated this weekend with a long walk followed by happy hour. It’s amazing how the weather can seriously alter your mood.
Can we take a minute to discuss these pants I got at Old Navy? They are the best 20 dollars I put into my wardrobe for spring. They brighten up everything, I would have actually gotten them in another color if they had them in my size. Also, I may or may not have owned this exact denim jacket in the 90’s. I can almost picture myself, at the height of my awkward stage, wearing platform sneakers and rocking bangs. That’s why I’m always hesitant to get rid of things in my closet, there is almost a guarantee it will come back in style eventually.
Have you ever gotten rid of something in your closet and wound up regretting it?
I linked this post over at The Tiny Heart, showing off fashionable finds for spring! Stop by and check out all the great bloggers.
Something fun about going to Baltimore right before baseball season is getting to take pictures in Camden Yards while it’s totally empty. Something else fun was finding this mint blazer at H&M. Mint was probably the only color missing from my jacket collection and I couldn’t pass it up. I have officially put myself on a jacket buying hiatus, but I can rest easy knowing I’ll be warm this spring.
What’s happening here you ask? Just practicing my pitching skills. I was never much of an athlete.
My absolute obsession with floral prints knows no bounds (see here & here for proof). This dress practically crawled from the store to my closet on it’s own, knowing it would be at home there with all the other skirts & dresses. I have what I guess you would call a decidedly girly wardrobe and can never resist when a flouncy ruffled skirt & florals are combined in one perfect dress. I tried to toughen the look up a bit with my suede moto jacket but I’m pretty sure my curls, purple nails, and pumps kept it as feminine as ever.
On Sunday I went shopping to continue a fun little game I’ve been playing with mother nature. The game pretty much goes like this: I buy items that are spring and summer appropriate and mother nature drops the temperature. I buy open toed shoes and cute flats, and mother nature makes it snow. I buy an open backed dress, and mother nature allows temperatures to hit a record low… you get the idea. The sad fact is, mother nature always wins this little game and my clothes sit sadly in their bags with the tags on. What’s in that Bloomingdale’s bag you ask? You’ll just have to wait until mother nature wants to let me win a round. Or just click here, here, & here.
I am so excited to be collaborating with Rachel over at Life Unsweetened today to bring you guys two different ways to wear a statement blazer. I adore Rachel’s blog and how she wears things that are affordable for every woman! With warm weather (hopefully) right around the corner, a blazer is a great transitional piece to add to your wardrobe. I fell in love with this floral one from Ann Taylor Loft, and when it went on sale I knew I had to scoop it up. I am also loving Rachel’s bright colored blazer with a feminine ruffled bottom. Make sure you stop by Rachel’s blog to see her full post and scope out all the details for her adorable outfit below!
My boyfriend had a pretty good laugh when I announced that these were my new “walking shoes”. To him, a sensible walking shoe is a sneaker. To me however, these Vince Camuto booties are the perfect spring walking shoes. The low heel makes them comfortable for a stroll while still allowing them to be slightly dressy. I wore them for a windy walk around the park and then to brunch at one of the best brunch places I’ve been in a while. It included one of the biggest chai lattes I’ve ever had and was completed with a bacon (yes, bacon) brownie.
